Stop Waiting to Feel Better: How Monthly Bodywork Changes Everything

Jamie Lufkins | APR 1

I’ve been on the self-care journey for years, and let me tell you: there’s a huge difference between thinking bodywork is a treat and realizing it’s essential. For the better part of a year, I enjoyed committing to monthly reflexology as "something new" and it was amazing! My stress felt manageable, my body pain lighter, and my mind more chill.

Then life happened.

I fell off the routine for a few months, and wow…the tension, stress, and anxiety came roaring back, even worse than before. That’s when it truly hit me: bodywork isn’t just a nice treat, it’s a life hack for stress reduction.

Surely, when I got back into caring for myself, I started exploring other forms of bodywork, like facials and massages.

The shift was remarkable.

Gradually, my shoulders loosened up, my energy shifted, and the mental overwhelm that had been building slowly melted away. It became clear to me that regular bodywork isn’t just about looking or feeling pampered, it’s a powerful tool to support your entire nervous system, release tension, and manage pain and anxiety before it spirals.

It’s also important to give yourself permission to change your mind.

Maybe you’ve always thought bodywork is only for people with extra time or money, or that it’s just a luxury. That’s okay, but try experiencing it anyway. Show up, allow yourself to feel the difference, and watch how your mind and body start to shift. How will you know if it helps without trying it?

Once you feel it for yourself, you may never go back to thinking it’s a “luxury.”

For me, monthly sessions have become a lifeline, creating consistency for both my body and mind. Whether it’s a deep tissue massage, or a rejuvenating facial, this regular care helps release tension before it builds up. I call that a necessity.

And, it’s not a splurge, it’s a health practice.

And here’s the truth: stop using “it costs too much” as an excuse. We all find money for going out, Amazon hauls, or other little splurges, but investing in yourself in a way that actually heals your body and calms your mind?

That’s the one purchase you won’t regret.

It’s a practice that supports you in every area of life: stress relief, anxiety reduction, pain management, and overall wellbeing.

At the end of the day, when you make it non-negotiable, you’re sending a powerful message to yourself, and your nervous system learns to handle stress better while chronic tension stays at bay. Obviously, consistency is key for maximum benefits.

So stop debating it.

Here’s the challenge: make yourself a priority!

Schedule that massage, facial, or reflexology session, and experience what it feels like to actually feel better without lifting a finger. Your sanity will thank you. After all, the best investment you can make is in yourself.
